Via ce stand, l'ONG Consortium Cursa Development (ONG-CCD) voudrait démontrer que la plantation de vanille naturelle de Madagascar est une plantation écologique. Cela se manifeste par la technique culturale de cette plante. En effet l’ombrage fourni par le tuteur du vanillier permet de réguler l'intensité solaire impactant le sol et permet à des herbacées de couvrir celui-ci, contribuant ainsi à réguler à son tour l'évapotranspiration permettant la conservation de l'humidité du sol. A cet effet, la vanille naturelle de Madagascar participe effectivement à la mission de l'initiative 4 pour 1000: "la santé du sol pour la sécurité alimentaire et le changement climatique". Dans ce sens, l'ONG CCD fait appel à tous les Partenaires Techniques et Financiers (PTF) à appuyer les Producteurs de vanille naturelle de Madagascar pour pérenniser la santé du sol et assurer la sécurité alimentaire pour faire face au changement climatique.

Dans le cadre du Projet Soutenir les Acteurs de Vanille aux Bénéfices des Enfants (Projet SAVABE) pour lutter contre le travail des enfants dans la filière vanille dans la Région SAVA, Madagascar, financé par l'Organisation Internationale de Travail (OIT), l'ONG Consortium Cursa Development (ONG-CCD) a effectué une prestation "appui au producteurs de vanille dans le renforcement de capacité en technique culturale et technique de  préparation de vanille. Ces producteurs sont regroupés dans une coopérative des producteurs de vanille membre du Groupement Vanille Magnitry (GVaMa). Seize coopératives des producteurs de vanille  dans les 16 Communes rurales pilotes de la Région SAVA au Nord Est de Madagascar, ont bénéficié cette prestation. Seize Jeunes diplômés de l'université de Madagascar aussi ont bénéficié des expériences en développement rural qui sont actuellement devenus experts en développement utiles pour le développement rural, en particulier dans le domaine de la vanille.

Ces jeunes acteurs de développement ont été formés par l'ONG-CCD en collaboration avec l'ECOCERT Madagascar sur la procédure et la technique de la certification Bio de la vanille dans les mêmes communes rurales pilotes. Cette prestation a été financée par la Société Vanille Magnitry (SOVAMA).

L'ONG-CCD contribue activement à l'appui à la mise en œuvre d'un Projet de Recherche et Développement (PRD) intitulé Renforcement des capacités en gestion des ressources en eau dans la Région SAVA, Madagascar (Projet GIRE SAVA) dont la zone pilote est le Bassin Ankavia. C'est un Projet de recherche financé par l'Académie de Recherche et d'Enseignement Supérieur (ARES), Belgique dans le cadre de la coopération belge. C'est un fruit de la coopération interuniversitaire entre le Centre Universitaire Régional de la SAVA (CURSA) et l'Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) Belgique.

    I was welcomed by three members of the NGO, Joseph Benitsiafantoka, Hélène Voahanginirina and Christian Sabe. They told me told me all wanted to know about the vanilla production in Madagascar. Madagascar produces 2000 Mt per year representing 80% of the global production. The average size of the plantations is about 0.5 ha. Vanilla is a capricious plant and requires a lot of attention and good shade. It is by nature an agroforestry crop that, maintains carbon stocks in the soil. Expanding vanilla production could have significant potential to contribute to carbon sequestration. They would like to do a study on this. Is there anyone out there conducting or interested in conducting a similar study? If yes, drop a note to Booth 20 or contact them in chat. At the end of our long and lively conversation I had a chance to explain to them my idea of twin-regions. From my point of view, such local NGOs, which are in direct contact with producers, will have a key role to play in the realization of the of the concept. They are extremely interested. We agreed that I will create a stand to present the idea in more detail and that we will form a group in chat to develop the idea further together with the other interested parties.     Hi, this is Josephine Chen of HomelandGreen, Hong Kong of Stand 27 and Stand 35. I really want to show my appreciation for what your NGO is doing. Find it a pity that it is highly unlikely that we can enter into a partnership under the twin-region concept as ours is only a very small charitable organization and we focus on promoting regenerative farming in a highly urbanized and metropolitan city and our farms are in general small vegetable farms only. Our work in the Northern part of China is promoting circular economy among the different industries that work together for the restoration of the desert to become a zero pollution eco-agricultural zone. Our missions towards the planet and people are the same except that the climatic and geographical nature of arid areas is in total contrast to that of your region. Nevertheless, your work is inspiring to help me bring back ideas as to how NGOs can function in different ways for the benefit of the underprivileged. Thank you so much for the stories you shared.
