Presentation
Summary
How could a city like Hong Kong be a player in reducing carbon footprint? It is a known fact that soil biology sequesters carbon dioxide. Homeland Green believes Regenerative farming are particularly suitable for small farms in Hong Kong. It conducts talks and training sessions for farmers, students and interested parties alike and helps farms to convert to regenerative farming practices. The result is very encouraging. Soil biology in the converted farms changes dramatically. Crops are free of pests. The appearance, taste and nutritional level improve. Consumption of fertilizer decreases. Both farmers and consumers benefited. The carbon sequestered helps to offset the carbon produced in Hong Kong, reducing our carbon footprint.
Milestones: as a Word attachment below. It is just a list now, It is intended to turn it into a Power Point presentation with embedded videos and photos.
Additional information
1. Partnership
Clients / Target group
Local farmers and farmers' associations
- help them to lower the use and requirement of commercial organic fertilizers and pesticides by applying regenerative farming practices we preach.
- consult and help them to improve the soil health
Younger generation:
- educate them in green matters
- send them on international conferences to learn of the latest RF Farming methods and technologies. Widen their international exposure.
Local businesses and NGOs:
- collect their organic wastes as inputs to our compost heaps
- reduce waste
- decrease the demand of the garbage dump site.
Established collaborations and partnerships

4 per 1000
We hope to see success stories of other 4 per 1000 members and see if we could adopt their methodologies, approach and technological advances in our context.
2.Solidarity - Twin-Regions
The twin regions concept aims to optimize the use of resources to address the global climate crisis and other pressing issues by promoting international solidarity and massive, empowered, self-reliant and equitable citizen participation. A Twin-Region is a pair of communities that are complementary in terms of green house gas emissions and sequestration potential. They pool their recourses and collaborate in order to become carbon neutral and to solve other pressing environmental and societal issues, such as biodiversity loss and migration. Click here to read a one page outline.
Pros and cons
The concept is interesting.
Pros:
- once twin-regions are identified, the regions would be held accountable.
Cons:
- Viable methods are required to measure the carbon credit produced and consumed.
Relevance
Your role
3. Ecological footprint
Status
We collect from local businesses ( soy milk producers, Chinese herbal drink factory, landscape companies) for the organic waste in their production as the inputs for organic compost production. This is used in our RF Farm projects.
Perspective
- conduct educational talks to targeted audience to raise interests.
- Proactive recruitment of youth interested in regenerative farming
- increase outreach to local and international groups to nurture cooperation and collaborations
- Raise financial supports from commercial sector.
