45 years journey from degraded land to heaven on earth.

Soil degradation, increased costs of input, climate change and on top of it lack of dignity to the farming profession are main reasons why farmers are giving up and able youth is not attracted to the farming profession. Resultant is that farmers are getting old with average age of global farmers being 60 years. If we have to put a break to this avalanche we must understand myth verses facts that worked for us at my farm Saguna Baug. That approach is, ‘turn off tillage and appropriate use of chemicals’. Chemicals are not our enemies, our normal body functions are taking place due to the optimum presence of chemicals. The common salt we consume everyday is also a chemical, can be a serious poison if considered in wrong doses. Our objective should be to increase the organic carbon of soil & stop soil erosion as fast as we can. Our technique SRT has proved it that it is easy, affordable & replicable method to sustainably achieve ecological, economical & nutritional food production.

Conservation Agriculture (CA), No-till method of farming which is climate smart, increases organic carbon of the soil, essentially are generative agricultural practice, considerably increases productivity of the land and adds to the amazing happiness & confidence of the farmer." The Saguna Regenerative Technique (SRT) cultivation method was evolved in 2011 at Saguna Baug, Neral, Dist. Raigad, Maharashtra, India. The permanent raised beds used in this method facilitates ample of oxygen supply to the root zone area while maintaining optimum moisture condition there. SRT is being used for 25 to 30 different crops such as cereals, vegetables, pulses, oilseeds, millets, cotton, maize, etc. Absence of puddling and transplanting of rice makes it possible for “Not dependent on high amount of water, availability of tractor or plough and skilled labour during specific period of transplanting“.
