  1. Guiding question: How can finance be secured for increased strategic soil sampling and analysis to improve the accuracy of SOC monitoring especially in voluntary carbon markets?

  2. Guiding questions: Are there examples in the global south where SOC monitoring is used for or incorporated into national GHG inventories?

  3. In addition to the adoption of regenerative farming practices, there are new solutions which can increase soil carbon sequestration but do not have the same limitations regarding MRV. For example there exists soil revitalization products which are easy to adopt (do not imply heavy changes of practices) and accelerate carbon sequestration. In those cases you are not limited by the poor rate of adoption or the slow increase in SOC. But one big issue is the availability of models that look at how changes in microorganisms populations affect SOC.

  4. Really good paper, clearly structured and contains all important aspects. My only comment is the inclusion of ExAct in the overview table. ExAct does nothing but transfer the IPCC methodology (Tier 1 and 2) into an Excel Sheet. I would rather recommend to include the CoolFarm Tool (https://coolfarmtool.org/)
