Objective D1 - Collaborative Platform

LabelTitleDescription
Collaborative Platform

Provide a digital collaborative platform, including regional portals

A boosted electronic collaborative platform, including regional portals, facilitates and strengthens collaboration and exchange between stakeholders within and around the Initiative.

Targets D1 - Collaborative Platform

Baseline 2020Target 2030Target 2050

Collaborative platform 2.0 is fully operational for the Secretariat, the STC, and the Bureau.

Collaborative platform 2.0 is developed at the five regional levels of the Initiative and is fully operational for all members and partners of the "4 per 1000" Initiative and all interested actors.
The collaborative platform is fully operational.

Context D1 - Collaborative Platform

Problem D1 - Collaborative Platform

Problem StatementDescriptionConsequences

There is a lack of platforms that enable collaboration and information sharing for unified action.

There is a lack of cohesion in addressing SH and soil regeneration globally. Stakeholders often work in silos, and synergetic potentials are overlooked. Efforts and work to improve SH are lost in the myriad of issues being addressed to combat climate change.

This results in uncoordinated and duplicated action and the repeated implementation of unsuccessful strategies, which undermines efforts. Farmers' and other stakeholders' lack of information and scientific support will hinder the shift towards sustainable soil management and cause further degradation of soils.

Causes D1 - Collaborative Platform

CauseDescription

1

Ignorance of the need for a collaborative platform

Not wanting to change and try new up-to-date information systems delays some initiatives. As a result, their visibility and the visibility of their actions are hindered. The "4 per 1000" Initiative has no comprehensive knowledge management concept that demonstrates the added value for stakeholders.

Implementation strategy D1 - Collaborative Platform

Activities D1 - Collaborative Platform

ActivityDescription

1

Explain the benefits of a collaborative platform

Make people understand what a collaborative platform is and demonstrate its value to stakeholders.

2

Develop the platform interactively

Pursue agile and demand-driven development of the collaborative platform.

3

Develop regional platforms

Set up interconnected platforms at the regional level to coordinate activities under similar climatic and soil conditions.

4

Promote the use of the platform at appropriate levels

Encourage countries to use the platform for collaborative actions regarding data reporting, information sharing, and stakeholder mobilization.

5

Train users and managers

Ensure empowerment of stakeholders and operators of the collaborative platform.

Critical Success Factors (CSFs) D1 - Collaborative Platform

Critical Success FactorsDescription

1

Expanding the scope of the platform

It is crucial to ensure the broadest possible participation of many stakeholders who influence land use and thus soil dynamics. Scientific support is needed for information platforms on the causes of soil degradation and pollution to stop the devastating trend and develop problem-solving approaches.

2

An inclusive approach to cover all aspects

To include information on a broad range of issues covering soil degradation with scientific support. Benefits of science and indigenous traditional knowledge. One must understand all climate zone and issues, so the key is the availability of knowledge and data for all CZ to make it a to-go platform for problem-solving for soil.

3

Diffusion of the research results

The research results must reach the producers, and they must tend to be simple to use and understand.

4

Added value for stakeholders

Added value must be clear and should meet the demand of stakeholders.

Barriers D1 - Collaborative Platform

BarrierDescription

1

Lack of resources

Resources are missing in developing countries (Funds, equipment, infrastructure, etc.).

2

Language Communication

Content and information must be exchangeable in several languages for easier access.

3

People's mentality, unwillingness to change

If people refuse to change, try new ways to collaborate, and be transparent, there will be no solutions to the problem.
