About LEAP4FNSSA

LEAP4NFSSA is a Coordination and Support Action (CSA) that aims at establishing a Europe-Africa International Research Consortium (IRC). The IRC will provide a tool for all European and African institutions ready to engage in a sustainable partnership platform for research and innovation on Food and nutrition security as well as Sustainable agriculture (FNSSA). Once established, the IRC will be instrumental to the High Level Policy Dialogue (HLPD) on science and technology for innovation in meeting its strategic objectives. It will help to coordinate and prioritize the actions described in the FNSSA Roadmap endorsed by the HLPD. LEAP4FNSSA will also support the work of the two Commissions and its member countries in developing the science cooperation.

Purpose of this exercise

The purpose of this exercise is to gather information for joint agenda setting for the envisioned Africa-Europe Collaborative Platform in FNSSA. LEAP4FNSSA partners plan to make use of the information you provide to forge alliances for developing and implementing research and capacity development projects. Please fill the core competence form to make sure that you are on board.

Procedure

The exercise is a participatory process combining information gathering and reaching consensus for the elaboration of the reports. The process is comprises 5 steps:

Step 1: Gather information: Ask partners to provide information about problems, stakeholders and regional communication mechanisms

Step 2: Reach consensus: Feedback from step 1 will be summarized by the study teams in west and north Africa. The draft list of problems, stakeholders and information mechanisms will be shared with participants for improvement. Feedback will be used to finalize the documents.

Eligibility

Only employees of agricultural agencies, research, education, extension, and development organizations in West and North Africa are eligible to participate.

Anonymity

This is a collective and democratic process aimed at building consensus around the research and innovation agenda. To give every participant an equal opportunity to have their voice heard, we will anonymize the information you provide before it is forwarded to the working groups for analysis and preparation of the summary reports.

Organization

The survey is organized by the National Research Foundation (NRF) South Africa and the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE) Germany. The process is facilitated by AFRIS providing a help desk assisting and reminding participants to contribute in time. The data gathering exercise is split in two rounds. Round one is open and people can submit information without having to login. Round two will only be accessible to registered partners having a login.
