Introduction

Since June this year the "4 per 1000" international Initiative has set its Strategic Plan. 

Now that the strategic plan is in place, we must work on its implementation as quickly as possible. We want YOU to be involved in the implementation! Our common vision is to have healthy and carbon-rich soils worldwide to fight climate change and end hunger. We can only achieve this with your knowledge and support. In return, the "4 per 1000" Initiative makes your voice heard, arranges partnerships and thus facilitates the acquisition of resources and support for the realization of your projects.

The strategic plan comprises 24 objectives with specific targets for 2030 and 2050. We intend to create 24 Task Forces, one for each objective.

Therefore we'd like to ask you to join the Task Forces that are of special interest to you and your organization. Joining a Task Force will allow you to extend your professional network, to learn, to improve visibility of your contribution and to benefit from working together in an international team. Exchange and collaboration is facilitated by our cutting edge electronic platform that Task Force member may also use for decentralized development of their related actions and projects.

Depuis le mois de juin de cette année, l'initiative internationale "4 pour 1000" a établi son plan stratégique.

Notre vision commune est d'avoir des sols sains et riches en carbone dans le monde entier pour lutter contre le changement climatique et mettre fin à la faim. Nous ne pouvons y parvenir qu'avec vos connaissances et votre soutien. En retour, l'initiative "4 pour 1000" fait entendre votre voix, organise des partenariats et facilite ainsi l'acquisition de ressources et de soutien pour la réalisation de vos projets.

Le plan stratégique comprend 24 objectifs avec des cibles spécifiques pour 2030 et 2050. Nous avons l'intention de créer 24 Task Forces, un pour chaque objectif.

El plan estratégico comprende 24 objetivos con metas específicas para 2030 y 2050. Tenemos la intención de crear 24 'Task Forces', uno para cada objetivo.

Purpose of Task Forces

In the context of the "4 per 1000" Initiative the primary objective of the Task Forces is to develop a catalog of coordinated actions and projects that represent compelling investment opportunities, which will be brought to the attention of decision-makers and funders in the public and private sectors through the "4 per 1000" initiative.

The general purpose of the Task Forces is to provide a space where professionals can meet, exchange and collaborate on issues regarding the objective.

The specific purpose of each Task Force is:

  1. to map relevant on-going actions and project,
  2. to elaborate implementation strategies that allow reaching the targets for 2030 and 2050, as defined in the strategic plan, and
  3. to outline action and project plans for future activities for reaching the targets. The latter are in fact investment opportunities.

Task Forces are also a consultative and advisory body expected to provide advice to third parties upon request.

  3. de définir les plans d'action et de projet pour les activités futures visant à atteindre les objectifs. Ces dernières sont en fait des opportunités d'investissement.

Les Task Forces sont également un organe consultatif et de conseil qui doit fournir des conseils à des tiers sur demande.

How to join a Task Force

Please go through the list of objectives below and select up to three objectives to which you can contribute and/or which are of particular interest to you and your organization. Please also read the 2030 and 2050 targets carefully.

To join a particular Task Force, you must click on the "Click here to join this Task Force" button below each objective to display the appropriate registration form. Complete and click on submit to join.

You can join as Global Task Force Leader, Regional Task Force Representative, or Task Force Team Member. Please take a look at the different roles and decide which role in each task force suits you best.

Global Task Force Leader: 

  • Organize a inter-regional consultative processes for a specific objective
  • Supervise activities, monitor progress and report to the forum of partners
  • Liaise with the Executive Secretariat and Scientific and Technical committee

 Regional Task Force Representatives:

  • Identify additional relevant partners in their region and encourage them to join the Initiative
  • Organize the regional consultative processes
  • Supervise activities, monitor progress and report to the regional forum of partners
  • Liaise with the Global Task Force Leader
  • Liaise with regional and national authorities to facilitate coordination of actions with defined development strategies and on-going programs

Task Force Team Member: 

  • Provide information on relevant on-going actions and projects
  • Contribute to the formulation of the implementation strategy 
  • Help to identify additional partners in their region
  • Outline actions and projects that contribute to the targets 
  • Actively contribute to the consultative processes

The Executive Secretariat will designate a moderator and assistants for each Task Force to support the Head and Regional Representatives. The Scientific and Technical Committee will appoint a Scientific Advisor for each Task Force.

Please note that only persons belonging to an organization that is a member or partner of the international initiative "4 per 1000" can be appointed as Task Force leaders or regional Task Force representatives. If your organization is not a member or partner of "4 per 1000", you can only join a task force as a member.

The Executive Secretariat of "4 per 1000" will facilitate a consultative process for the final selection of the Leader and Regional Representatives and the establishment of the Task Force. In addition to organizational issues, a balanced representation of the various stakeholders will play an important role in the formation of the Task Forces.

The deadline for the initial registration is the 30th of September 2020. Task Forces will be created in October. Task Forces will remain open and other interested parties are free to join at any time.
