Integrated agricultural utilization systems with trees and shrubs (agroforestry systems) hold a great potential for climate change mitigation and adaptation and can be a successful approach to diversifying farm income and increasing resilience. This session will explore different approaches to the design of agro-forestry and silvo-pastoral production systems in temperate climates. It will explore the effect of such systems on soil health and farm scale greenhouse gas balances, as well as on food production, and discuss levers and barriers for implementation.
