Dear Members of the Consortium,

we would like to consult you by this electronic mean on the following three items : election of new members of the Bureau, nomination of new members of the STC, and nomination of two honorary Vice-Presidents.

We need your approval for those important decisions concerning the life of our Initiative.

The Bureau already considered those questions and agrees to propose them for your choice and validation.

Thank you to take the time to express your voice, it will take you less than 10 minutes to look at the documents and vote.

Selection of new members of the Scientific and Technical Committee (STC) of the Initiative

Two positions at the STC are currently open, one previously occupied by Dr. Cornelia RUMPEL (a Lady from European country) and Dr. Yasuhito SHIRATO (a gentleman from Asian country).
We received 27 candidatures.
In order to respect the gender issue and a global balance of geographical origin, in addition to scientific competencies consideration, an Ad Hoc Selection Committee composed with high-level international Scientific personnalities narrowed it down to the following five candidates for your consideration:

Nomination of Honorary Vice-Presidents

We kindly ask for your approval of the two following nominees for the newly introduced position of Honorary Vice-President of the "4 per 1000" Initiative.

Both personnalities played an important role in the Initiative by the past, and would like to continue to do so under this new voluntary and unpaid position (as all Presidency positions):


Dr. Zornbach grew up on a small horticultural farm and studied biology at the University of Hamburg from 1979 to 1986, majoring in applied botany, microbiology and applied entomology.

After completing his dissertation at the Federal Biological Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry (now the Julius Kühn Institute), Dr. Zornbach moved to the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) in June 1990. There he worked in the Plant Protection Unit and, since February 2017, in the Sustainability and Climate Protection, Climate Impacts Unit (Unit 521), which he still heads until today.

Dr. Zornbach chaired the OECD Pesticide Risk Reduction Steering Group for over 10 years, chaired a number of OECD seminars and workshops on various plant protection topics, and most recently chaired the OECD Working Group on Pesticides. This is the highest body within the OECD dealing with plant protection issues. In 2018/2019, Dr. Zornbach served as Chair of the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA).

Gabrielle Bastien is a consultant, advocate and entrepreneur driven to accelerate the transition to regenerative agriculture and land management, in order to regenerate soil health, mitigate climate change, help restore biodiversity, and produce larger quantities of healthier foods.

She is the Co-Founder and former Co-Director of Regeneration Canada, a position she held until February 2023.

Gabrielle was the CEO of INTERIM until August 2023.

As of September 2023, Gabrielle works as a Principal consultant. She also holds the postion of Treasurer at Collectif Récolte.

She was elected Vice-President of the 4p1000 initiative on March 31st, 2021, a position she held until December 2023, and is the recipient of Canada’s 2021 Clean50 Emerging Leader Award.
