Following the launch of the “4 per 1000” Initiative during COP 21 of the UNFCCC in Paris by the French Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Stephane Le Foll promoting carbon sequestration in soil through agroecological practices by farmers, it seems that there is finally a way in which farmers can be paid to be soil carbon stewards (EBDA, Climate farmers), potentially scaled globally through the application of the Sustainable Food Trust global farm metric.

This event aims for the following:

1. First: Provide the knowledge and awareness that sustainable agriculture systems would protect nature, combat global climate change, improve our health and gain more food security.
2. Second: Biodynamic farming and sustainable production practices such as agroecology increase carbon sequestration and reduce emissions.
3. Third: Agriculture carbon credits aim to reduce C02 farm emissions and reward farmers for their positive environmental services sequestering and avoiding C02.

This event will cover the following talking points: 

1. First Climate Framers explains that through regenerative agriculture, there is a great potential to store carbon in the ground and restore healthy ecosystems, while improving the livelihood of farmers. https://www.climatefarmers.org/
