DescriptionThe role of land in the sustainable development agenda September 12, 2023, Agropolis International - Montpellier The members of the international panel of experts of the Science Policy Interface (SPI) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) will be meeting in Montpellier in September. On this occasion, the French Scientific Committee on Desertification (CSFD) invites you to a multi-stakeholder debate on the role of land in the sustainable development agenda. Come and discuss with experts and share your experiences on land as a key vector in the fight against desertification, climate change mitigation and adaptation, biodiversity preservation and sustainable development for the benefit of populations, and thus contribute to the work of the Science-Policy Interface (SPI) in preparation for the next Conference of the Parties in 2024.  Free but compulsory registration: https://tinyurl.com/12septembre2023 Program of the day (under construction) Click here for more details (panelists) - 8h Welcome of participants - 8h45 Official opening - 9:30 a.m. Round Table "The challenges of the Science-Decision-makers-Society dialogue - 11:30am: Exchange between experts, feed the work of the Interface Science Politique (SPI) o  Work in sub-groups according to themes  Sustainable land use systems: their capacity to combat desertification/land degradation and drought and the achievement of sustainable development goals  Aridity: future projections and adaptation approaches that reduce risks to environmental, social and economic systems for populations  Sand and dust storms: emissions of mineral dust by wind erosion are a major source of particles in the atmosphere.
