Background information
Rice can be considered as increasing food crop in Africa, which is overtaking maize, sorghum and cassava as main staple food in many regions of our partner countries. Within the 13 countries of the green innovation centres for the agriculture and food sector program, 5 are working on the rice value chain: Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali and Nigeria.
In order to explore possibilities of peer learning and to decide on concrete actions, representatives from these five countries met in Tunis in October 2016 for the first time.
A second meeting was held during the international green week in Berlin, in January 2017.
